In a strict formal sense, the Potager du Roi is about ordering and categorizing. Furthermore, the very idea of categorization is at the base of relating ourselves to nature. The landscape architect essentially deals with giving a spatial expression to such attributions. The field of colour is interesting in this respect as one of our main aesthetic interests and a central theme in the validation of nature – albeit little explored. The workshop explored the idea of colour and attributions systems in creating spatial networks for a contemporary showcasing of the Potager. The ‘urban’ disciplines of marking, tagging, tape art (as a a mild version of graffiti) came to the garden.
